Primary Function / Primary Goals / Objectives

  • Responsible for managing multiple medium to large-scale projects, from beginning to end, with accountability for project execution; emphasis on Packaging Cost savings projects at AN International sites (may include TPMs)
  • Manage capital and expense budgets for assigned projects
  • Demonstrate stewardship and provide leadership to meet Division strategies and business objectives
  • Deliver project excellence by incorporating best practices in project management to meet and or exceed customer needs (CJR)
  • Identify process issues and recommend improvements to senior leaders
  • Recommend and implement PM strategies and enhancements to improve efficiency (CJR)
  • Act as primary point of contact for project reporting & updates (CJR)
  • Provide support as required to Portfolio Management (CJR)
  • Assist in idea capture and cataloging activities of new ideas

Major Responsibilities

  • Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.
  • Work closely with procurement, R&D, engineering, regulatory, and quality teams to identify, evaluate, prioritize, and execute Cost Leadership programs and projects.
  • Collaborate with Engineering (Division, Regional, and Site) and manufacturing to ensure feasibility and align on best path forward
  • Work with cross-functional organization to identify and align interdependent Cost Leadership projects with upcoming or existing approved projects
  • Disciplined Project Management: Deliver Project Excellence by incorporating best practices into project management to meet and/or exceed customer needs across the Project Management Process Groups:
  • Initiate projects and assure clear scope and success criteria. Recommend scope changes to reduce complexity and drive speed to market. Proactively identify changes in project scope and assure appropriate measures are taken to reassess and amend requirements, budget and timeline
  • Plan projects by establishing timelines & budgets. Identify opportunities to improve project planning and forecast accuracy.
  • Execute the project plan by facilitating meetings and managing resources (FTEs & costs) and deliverables. Identify and address synergies and/or conflicts across multiple projects.
  • Monitor and Control through reports & updates, managing risk, and effectively using systems.
  • Work directly with functional area managers to resolve issues that impact completion of project objectives; determine when to escalate issues to appropriate levels of management and establish escalation plans
  • Create and deliver project review presentations to all levels of the organization
  • Responsible for proactively identifying critical project issues and risks, and timely communication to senior leadership
  • Effective; efficient resource utilization to achieve delivery of Cost Leadership targets to Abbott.
  • Provide cross-functional forecasting, tracking, reporting and oversight on project budget and expenditures; Track overall project budget and metrics
  • Understand organizational impact of project issues and engage Sr Management as necessary
  • Ensure project scope and success criteria are clearly established; develop and manage project plan to meet deliverables
  • Establish clear priorities
  • Ensure team is working within project scope and effectively coordinate the activities of the team to meet project milestones
  • Participate in the development and implementation of innovation plans
  • Ensure alignment with key planning processes, such as business planning, brand planning, customer planning, S&OP and corporate project reporting
  • Provide support in compiling and reporting project requirements
  • Maintain documentation and provide data management for project deliverables; identify communication plans for knowledge sharing across functional areas and project teams
  • Document cross-functional project plan in PM software Develop estimates and manage resources to deliver project objectives
  • Manage cross-functional project timeline and follow-up with project team members to ensure timely completion of tasks
  • Proactively identify, monitor & manage project opportunities/ issues/ risks
  • Resolve conflict within the project
  • Work directly with functional area managers to resolve issues that impact completion of project objectives: determine when to escalate issues to appropriate levels of management
  • Initiate, lead and communicate project assessments and lessons learned
  • Provide training/coaching on project management methodologies and processes to meet organizational needs
  • Take project through NPD, FEP and FMEA, and site-specific processes as needed

Education

Bachelors degree required, Masters degree preferred, PMP (or equivalent) certification desirable

Background

  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and requirements for infant formula and nutritionals .
  • Extensive knowledge of and competency in project management methodology and processes, including planning tasks and allocating resources, risk management, working in teams, issues management, monitoring and reporting, and documentation
  • 3-5 yrs experience in project leadership roles
  • Strategic, conceptual analytical thinking and decision making skills
  • Critical thinking/problem-solving skills method
  • Ability to plan and facilitate meetings
  • Demonstrated expertise in leading teams
  • Ability to negotiate consensus among diverse groups and influence the activities of others not in own reporting structure
  • Strong written and presentation skills; ability to communicate effectively with senior management
  • Technical background sufficient to understand issues involved with the project
  • Knowledge of the strategic and operational context of the projects
  • Personal integrity and courage to escalate issues about the project and to advocate for responsible solutions to management
  • Adaptability and flexibility including the ability to manage deadline pressure, ambiguity and change
  • Accountability / Scope/Budget:
  • Manage projects with representation from all key functional areas
  • Effective, efficient resource utilization to achieve growth of key brands and new spaces to deliver LRP to Abbott
  • Projects will include market and line extensions, new manufacturing processes and new packages
  • Responsible for identifying critical project issues and risks, and timely communication to senior
  • Provide cross-functional forecasting, tracking, reporting and oversight on project budget and
  • Understand organizational impact of project issues and engage Sr Mgmt as necessary
  • This position will work with limited supervision; is accountable for all project deliverables
  • Exercises judgment within generally defined processes, procedures and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
  • Erroneous decisions may result in critical delay(s) in schedules and/or operations
